Mereida Fajardo is a cartoonist, zine maker and illustrator based in Bristol. Her practice is rooted in drawing, and she loves to play with the possibilities of visual storytelling and the language of comics. Spanning fiction and non-fiction, she finds inspiration in landscapes, memory, history and journalism.

As part of the Drawn in Residence program, Mereida documented behind-the-scenes teams and workers throughout the hospital, from Waste to Decontamination to the Post Office. Her aim was to use drawing and sequential art to highlight their work which, though not directly related to healthcare, forms an intrinsic part of the running of the hospital.
